anything for a vote, eh Barack?

REASONS THAT THIS MIGHT HAVE HAPPENED:

-Their smiles fill him with hate, which he uses to destroy his enemies.

-Barack Obama is looking to expose our children to wildlife. Vicious, deceitful, brutalizing, nine-fingered wildlife.

-Rahm Emanuel is genuinely concerned with the education of America's children. (The third one is always a joke, people.)

Dude, Rahm reads this book about a duck who overthrows a farmer in a contest lacking legitimacy at best. HE IS HARD WIRING THESE KIDS FOR LIVES OF CORRUPTION.

title.

The Boston police officer who sent a mass e-mail in which he compared Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. to a "banana-eating jungle monkey" has apologized, saying he's not a racist.

Whatever you say, man.

Hahaha

From this.

Several years ago, a team headed by the psychologist Mark Fenton-O’Creevy created a computer program that mimicked the ups and downs of an index like the Dow, and recruited, as subjects, members of a highly paid profession. As the line moved across the screen, Fenton-O’Creevy asked his subjects to press a series of buttons, which, they were told, might or might not affect the course of the line. At the end of the session, they were asked to rate their effectiveness in moving the line upward. The buttons had no effect at all on the line. But many of the players were convinced that their manipulation of the buttons made the index go up and up. The world these people inhabited was competitive and stressful and complex. They had been given every reason to be confident in their own judgments. If they sat down next to you, with a tape recorder, it wouldn’t take much for them to believe that they had you in the palm of their hand. They were traders at an investment bank.

Don't Republicans need to appeal to Mexicans to, you know, run the country?

The only comfort I have in watching politics right now is how fucked those bastards are STILL.

Why do I aIlways write about Sarah Palin, expect that she's remarkably east to write about and Lily brought it up on LitBlog

I read that longish but not super long article Vanity Fair put out concerning Sarah Palin monstrosity and I have to confess that I had already heard about sixty percent of the stories sometime during the election cycle because that was a time in my life when I was really into seeing Sarah Palin dragged through the mud.

And although dragging Sarah Palin down is wonderful, I can't help but take two exceptions to the VF article:

1. Why is Vanity Fair, the CLASSY celebrity magazine, publishing a multi-page article filled with liberal values indignation and implications about the mental state of a national figure (At one point the article goes out of its way to mention that multiple people they interviewed had "Diagnosed" Palin with narcissistic personality disorder.). It's not like anyone reading it would have their mind changed, and the article doesn't make and allusions to policy whatsoever. The beginning of the article even makes like its going to make a serious inquiry into why people like Palin. That would be interesting, because it might say something about the culture at large. It does no such thing. It just plays stories from unnamed sources in an attempt to make Palin seem like a horrible person, which was interesting a year ago but not really now.

2. Don't people understand that this sort of thing just polarizes people and Palin can use it to her advantage. "Silent Majority" and all that. (Hranted, Palin doesn't have anything resembling a majority.)

Also why is she resigning? The fuck?
